SARAH CLEMENT

Sarah Clement is a multidisciplinary writer and researcher. She has won a London Writers Award and Creative Future Literary Award, and has an MA in Creative and Life Writing from Goldsmiths. 

 

For two decades she was a research fellow and lecturer, most recently at King’s College London. With a psychology PhD and diploma in psychoanalytic psychology, her writing explores our inner lives through both a personal and research lens.

 

In the 1990s her book The Caesarean Experience was published by Harper Collins and her edited collection Psychological Perspectives on Pregnancy and Childbirth came out with Churchill Livingstone. 

 

She is currently working on Lostling which tells the story of her baby brother who died in the cusp of birth in 1960. It is a family memoir and also a social history of stillbirth, looking particularly at the 20th century’s era of mandated forgetting when stillborn infants vanished. This work was supported by a Develop Your Creative Practice grant from Arts Council England.

 

Devon-born girl turned Londoner, Sarah lives with her husband and has two adult sons. When not wrangling words and ideas, she loves art, the sea, family life and daydreaming.
